How to choose the right bathroom furniture.

Planning your perfect bathroom can be an overwhelming task with so many products to choose from, all with different benefits and functionalities. Bathroom furniture is no exception, with many elements to consider including storage space, size and colour, making the right choice can be intimidating. That’s why we’ve broken down the types of furniture and storage solutions for you with this handy guide.

1) Size & Space

Before diving in, it’s important to assess your bathroom space. Consider the amount of storage needed, functionality and of course, space available for the actual vanity unit.

For smaller bathrooms it’s even more important to opt for something that provides a storage solution where space is otherwise limited. Cloakroom vanity units or reduced depth basin units are an ideal way to minimise footprint whilst maximising bathroom storage space.

Other tips to create the impression of a larger bathroom include using lighter colours to lift the light, such as Soft Taupe in our Mozzano reduced depth or cloakroom furniture range. Pair these with large backlit mirrors such as our Cedro range ensure the room appears larger and brighter.

Working with a larger floor space? Excellent, that gives you plenty of room to work with to create your perfect bathroom. With standard units available in 600mm and 800mm wide, your storage under vanity units is amplified with the additional depth.

For an extra large space, you could even double up your bathroom vanity units to 1200mm, giving you a double sink option for a truly luxurious experience. Our Catina and Cellini basins also support this customisation with one single basin offering two sinks.

For more handy storage, don’t forget matching bathroom cabinets such as the Tall Units from our Mozzano and Cozensa ranges here, designed to match with the main vanity unit.

2) Style and functionality

Once you’ve established you space it’s important to think about the style of furniture you’d like. Interior design trends in bathroom we’ve been loving recently include the timeless traditional look, ultra-modern clean bathrooms and the serene Japandi style creating a true sanctuary.

With style pairs functionality, for example, ultra modern bathrooms can lend themselves to wall hung furniture for a minimalist look. Wall hung furniture is not only fantastic for ease of cleaning but opening up your bathroom, allowing more of your floor space to be on shows gives the impression of a larger room. Wall hung bathroom vanities can also look great in larger bathrooms where you’re trying to achieve a more clean, minimalist look. Likewise for a minimalist look handless drawers add to the overall aesthetic of clean design, such as our Mozzano range.

For other styles, the addition of handles and legs can give you even more options to play into the overall design of your bathroom. Whether you want a more traditional style, or to go for the popular industrial look, handles and legs can make a big impact on this.

For example, pair our matt white Cosenza unit with matt black handles to for a classic industrial look. Plus, an added benefit of including legs and handles, is the ability to match other elements on show for a cohesive look, such as brassware, showers and shower enclosures.

3) Colour

Furniture can play many different parts in bathroom design, whether you want to make your focal point a vibrant statement piece, featuring greens and blues, or opt for something more muted to complement other design features. Picture your bathroom design as a whole, how will the colour of your unit work with your floors and walls as well as on its own.

If you’re wanting to achieve the bathroom trend of Japandi style bathrooms, we particularly love the oak finishes on the Cosenza range bringing in warm natural materials to your design – complete the look with a warm light mirror, some greenery and minimalist touches for a serene bathroom experience.

4) Finishing touches

Now you’ve decided on your optimal bathroom furniture and layout, consider the final touches to enhance your bathroom. Consider upgrading your sink to solid surface, such as our Cellini range which adds an extra element of luxury to your bathroom space. If you’ve chosen a unit with handles, why not match them to the tap and other brassware for a cohesive look? The brushed brass handles on our Cosenza range are perfect paired with our Lucia brassware, as well as the stunning Marcello rails. Or if black is your choice, check out Parina, a stunning range of matt black brassware, our Armano matt black shower enclosure and Netro, our backlit mirror with a matt black trim.
